Alessandro Nordio is a researcher at IEIIT-CNR (Institute of Electronics, Computer and Telecommunication Engineering of the Italian National Research Council). In 1998 he received the Laurea degree in Telecommunications Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, Torino, Italy, with the highest honors. In 2002 he received the Ph.D. in Telecommunications from "Ecole Polytechnique Federale del Lausanne", Lausanne, Switzerland.

In 1998 he was a consultant for Omnitel, a leading Italian mobile phone operator. From 1999 to 2002, he performed active research with the Department of Mobile Communications at Eurecom Institute, Sophia Antipolis (France). From 2002 to 2009 he was a post-doc researcher with the Electronic Department of Politecnico di Torino, Italy.

In over 12 years of uninterrupted research activity he investigated many aspects of telecommunications including: third-generation mobile communication systems, signal processing, synchronization, multiple access techniques, coding and decoding techniques for receivers with multiple antennas, space-time coding systems, global positioning systems, wireless sensor networks, random matrix theory and information theory.

Dr. Nordio is co-author of dozens of articles published in prestigious international journals and conferences. He served as a TPC in several conferences in the field of wireless networks, communications and signal processing. He also collaborated to several European, National and Regional research projects, such as PLATON, CERCOM, PRIMO, IRGAL, OpenKnowTech and MASP.

He also performed an intense teaching activity in Italy and abroad and was responsible of parts of the following teachings: "Digital communications", "Radio Communications", "Fundamentals of Electric Communications'', "Information theory and codes", and "Mobile networks". He also held a number of Masters courses such as "Master in wireless systems and related technologies" and "Innovation networks and services in the ICT sector". Dr. Nordio is responsible for the supervision of several graduate and Ph.D. students at the Politecnico di Torino. He is IEEE member.
